You hear about 1080p everyday, but what is 1080p? The number 1080 refers to the lines of resolution from the top to the bottom of your TV or computer screen.
Bed + Laptop + Handheld Mouse/Trackball + Laptop Cooler = Smooth Bed Surfing
WHAT IS BED SURFING? - "Bed Surfing" is the practice of surfing the internet with your laptop computer while you lie in bed. Some people refer to it as "Crawling into bed with your laptop". A Rolee Polee handheld trackball is ideal for bed surfing in that it allows you a wider range of positions for your hands and arms. It allows you to assume a more relaxed position. For example, with the Rolee Polee you can place the laptop above the covers while your hands and arms remain under the covers. The only time you need to bring your hands out of the covers is to access the laptop keyboard.
SUPPLY LIST: WHAT YOU NEED FOR BED SURFING - The first item you will need is, of course, a bed. Next, you will need a laptop computer. The good news is that these days you can easily find a brand new laptop for under 500 bucks. I'm referring to a new line of laptops called "mini notebooks" that typically cost less than $500. In addition to the laptop, I would highly recommend a handheld trackball like the Rolee Polee to provide more comfort and flexibility. The Rolee Polee is like the "icing on the cake" in that it extends the great flexibility of a laptop computer. Lastly, I also recommend a laptop cooler or some type of protection between your laptop and the bed covers. Without protection, the laptop could possibly overheat.
UNPROTECTED BED SURFING: - The downside to bed surfing is that laptops are not compatible with bedding materials like soft, thick, insulating comforters or blankets. Without protection the laptop will sink into the blankets, which will block ventilation and could cause the laptop to heat up or even overheat in many cases. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you use some type of laptop cooler or even a plastic or wooden tray between your laptop and the bed covers. YOU CAN'T "BED SURF" WITH A MOUSE: - The computer mouse was invented over 40 years ago and "Mouse Technology" has certainly evolved over the years. You can find fancy, high resolution, laser guided mice, but regardless of the fancy technology you still have to drag the mouse on a smooth flat surface (desk top, table top, etc) and most mice still require a mouse pad. Therefore it makes it very impractical to Bed Surf with a standard mouse. The Rolee Polee, on the other hand, is a handheld device that does not require a flat surface of any kind and is therefore ideal for surfing the web in your bed. Rolee Polee - A Touchpad Alternative
Now I'm not knocking touchpads, because I think they are a great navigation device. However, the Rolee Polee gives you a nice trackball alternative to the laptop touchpad.

Which do you prefer? Now you can vote for either the Mouse or the Trackball. Simply find the poll on the left side of the Rolee Polee Blog screen. It's a little survey or poll that says TRACKBALL VS MOUSE. Do you see it? Ok, now just click on your selection and press the VOTE button. You also have the option of viewing the poll results before and after you place your vote. As of the time I wrote this blog entry, I noticed that most people are voting for the trackball.
Why are people destroying their computer mice? Could it be that they are sick and tired of the old "Drag Mouse on Desk" routine? Why is it that there are so many "crush mouse" videos, but I didn't see any "crush trackball" videos. Is it just a coincidence or is there something behind all this?

How a trackball works - Basically the trackball rolls against a trackball roller which then turns a slotted chopper wheel which is scanned by an optical sensor which converts your movement into digital information which is then sent to your computer via a USB connection.
